The new X1 F48 series that came in 2016 is based on the Modular front-wheel drive based UKL2 platform that is used with BMW and MINI models, a modular meant to increase interior space and boot space in smaller size model cars. They are both available in front wheel and All Wheel drive systems with the front adopting the SDrive naming and the All Wheel adopting XDrive naming. This unit is an XDrive 20d meaning it runs a 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine and drives the power to all wheels.
