The W205 began production in 2014 with the sedan adopting W205 model code as the other models adopted different codes like A205 in the Cabriolet. Mercedes call the W205 a mini-S-Class for its large size than the W204. It features front axle four-link and rear axle five-link suspension, flat-bottomed multifunctional steering wheel with paddle shifters, bucket-styled leather seats with thigh support and heating functionality, analogue clock on the cockpit, rear foldable armrest with deployable cup holders, and lane keep assist.
