Smart Forfour has been marketed by Smart in two production generations from 2004 to 2021 with the 2nd Gen beginning in 2014. The 1st gen adopted a front-engine configuration and while sharing its platform with Mitsubishi Colt, it was majorly marketed in Europe. The 2nd gen took a different turn basing its platform on Renault Twingo, as it was jointly produced with Renault, adopting a rear-engine configuration. The forfour was internally designated as W543. They are offered in a choice of a manual transmission or double-clutch automatic. Initially, they were also offered in a Getrag automated manual transmission but was discontinued for this generation. The Brabus Spec listed gets an increased power configuration in its Inline-3 turbocharged engine. It is important to note that Internal Combustion Engines of Forfour ended in 2019 before fully switching to EVs until 2021 when Smart# 1 Crossover took over!
